At Pediatric Care Specialists, our team of child-focused doctors, nurses and support staff have a common goal in mind - to make sure your child receives the health care they need and deserve. We provide family-friendly service at four convenient locations and our extended weekday, weekend and holiday hours mean we always have time for your child.
All of our physicians are board-certified/board-eligible in pediatrics, the "gold standard" when it comes to determining if doctors have the knowledge, experience and skills to provide quality care in their specialty.
Andrew Garbarino, MD
Dr. Garbarino is board-certified in pediatrics and has been caring for children in the greater Johnstown/Somerset area for more than 20 years. He is a graduate of St. George's University Medical School and completed his residency at Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio. Dr. Garbarino has a special interest in treating children with asthma.

Bethany Haskins, BSHS, MPAS, PA-C
Ms. Haskins, a native of Johnstown, graduated from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania in 2005. She earned a minor in Biology, a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science and a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Sciences. Ms. Haskins is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She has been a member of the PCS team since 2005.
Regina Kupchella, MD
Dr. Kupchella graduated from Georgetown University Medical School and completed her residency at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is board-certified in pediatrics, and has a special interest in strengthening the physical and emotional health of adolescents. She moderates several workshops for area families, including Mother/Daughter classes and other parenting seminars.
Venkata Dharbhamulla, MD
Cynthia Pioli, CRNP, CS
Ms. Pioli gained several years of pediatric nursing experience at Memorial Medical Center and later earned a master degree in Nursing Administration. She earned her Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) degree in 1997 from Carlow College, with a special concentration in Family Home Health. She is also nationally certified in Family Nursing. She has worked with the physicians of Pediatric Care Specialists as a CRNP for more than 10 years.
Jessica Muschè, CRNP
Ms. Muschè received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Ohio State University in 2003, earning national certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) shortly thereafter. Prior to joining PCS in 2003 as a CRNP, PNP, she served as a registered nurse at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Muschè has a special interest in helping patients with chronic headaches and works closely with Behavioral Health Services by seeing patients that need concomitant care with medication.
Samantha Shaffer, BSHS, MPAS, PA-C
Ms. Shaffer earned her Master of Physician Assistant Sciences from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania and has been awarded national certification. Her clinical experience includes time spent in the surgical, behavioral medicine, emergency medicine and family practice fields. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and certified in advanced and basic cardiac life support.
Edward Pawlowski, MD
Dr. Edward J. Pawlowski joined PCS in 2008 after completing his residency at West Virginia University where he also served as Chief Resident. He graduated from medical school at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland in 2002, regarded as the third oldest university in Europe, where both Copernicus and Pope John Paul II studied. He is board certified in pediatrics and brings with him a special interest in promoting breastfeeding for infants for healthier lifestyles.
Jill Blescia, MD
Dr. Blescia graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical School and completed her residency at the Janet Weis Children's Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. She is board-certified in pediatrics, and is a certified lactation counselor with a special interest in breast feeding. Dr. Blescia is a native of Ebensburg and the mother of four children.
Dr. Brad Drennen graduated from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Tod Children's Hospital/Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, OH. He is board certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of The American Academy of Pediatrics. He resides in Johnstown with his family where he has been practicing Pediatrics for the past 16 years.
Travis Feathers, BSHS, MPAS, PA-C
Mr. Feathers graduated from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa in 2010. He received a Bachelor's of Health Science, as well as a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Sciences. His clinical experience includes time spent with PCS on a clinical rotation. He also completed over 80 hours of clinical shadowing with our practice. He is nationally certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
Brad Drennen, DO
Tara Peters, CRNP
Ms. Peters is a native of Johnstown and a 2009 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelor's degree in Nursing. After passing state boards, she worked for five years at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center - three of which were spent taking care of the sick children admitted to the Pediatric Unit. During this time, she completed training at the University of Pittsburgh in their Family Nurse Practitioner Program. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014, she obtained national certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in Family Practice and joined the PCS team. During her masters training, Ms. Peters completed an elective of over 120 hours of clinical practicum in Pediatrics in Pediatric Care Specialists’ several offices. She currently lives in Somerset, PA with her husband Nate, daughter Presley and their two dogs, Tank and Cami.
Dr. Dharbhamulla graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, India. After completing his post-doctoral degree in Pediatrics, he received residency training in England. Subsequently he moved to the U.S. and did his Pediatric Residency at the North Shore University Hospital, New York. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is the Chairman and Head of Pediatrics at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA. He has a special interest in bringing the latest in medicine and technology to the children.

Michelle Sredy, MD
Michelle Sredy, MD graduated from Penn State Medical School, completed residency at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey PA. She has practiced pediatrics in Southwestern PA since 1995 and has served on several community boards and hospital committees over that time. She has an interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle as the basis for physical and emotional health of children. Her goal is for all her patients to grow into happy, healthy, productive adults.
Jeffrey Cook, MD
A native of western Maryland, Dr. Cook graduated from Marshall University School of Medicine in West Virginia and then completed residency training in Pediatrics at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville in 2006. After serving for one year as Chief Resident in Pediatrics, Dr. Cook worked as a general pediatrician in State College for 7 years before moving with his wife and 3 daughters to the Johnstown area in 2014. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and board certified in Pediatrics. He has a special interest in nutrition/weight management and environmental health.
Brenda O’Leary is the business manager of Pediatric Care Specialists. Brenda joined the practice in July 2000. Along with her education, she brings with her a wealth of experience in medical management. She is the welcoming voice you hear when you call the office. Her goal is to work closely with the staff to ensure patients receive the best care possible. Brenda is available Monday - Friday for any questions or comments.
Kristen Moot, BS, MPAS, PA-C
MS. Moot grew up here in Johnstown. She transferred to St. Francis University’s Physician Assistant program after receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. She graduated with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Sciences in 2014 and started working at PCS a few months later. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She enjoys primary care for the opportunity it provides to invest in patients and see them through their illness and wellness.
Kayla Thompson, MSN, CPNP-PC
Ms. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University and began working as a pediatric nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital. She then moved back to Central Pennsylvania and worked as an emergency department nurse while earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Drexel University. She is board certified as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care.
Kelly Emswiler, CRNP
Ms. Emswiler obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University. She is nationally certified through The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She completed 120 clinical hours with Pediatric Care Specialists during her schooling. Ms. Emswiler is a Somerset native, and she is passionate about providing patient care in her local community.
